Friendswood Parks and Recreation's mission statement is to provide the highest level of services and programs to the citizens at the greatest value, in a manner that warrants the highest degree of public confidence in our integrity and efficiency.
During my internship with Friendswood Parks and Rec, i was given many different responsibilities and worked with many different aspects of Parks and Recreation. From making reservations for the public at one of our parks, helping with the Summer day camp, helping with the Flag Football and Softball leagues, working the 4th of July event, helping clean the city and other maintenance work, and creating a Food Truck Tuesday event for the summer. In order to apply for an internship with Friendswood Parks and Recreation it is recommended to be going at least for a bachelor's degree, as well as skills in community development and public relations. Basic word and excel skills are also needed. Even though it was an unpaid internship there were many other benefits to working with Friendswood. One benefit for working with Friendswood Parks and Rec was that i was able to gain experience in a governmental position, as well as learning how to deal with the general public appropriately and respectfully. I also met people who i feel will become good contacts for when i graduate and start looking for a career. When i worked for Friendswood Parks and Recreation they gave me the opportunity to manage a food truck event in the park, as well as gave me the responsibility of working with the Softball and Football tournaments that the city hosts. As well as helping with our annual 4th of July celebration. I believe after helping put together multiple events, it has helped me prepare for any future events that i may be interested in hosting. |
